PIN-SME tells the European Commission e-Invoicing should be SME friendly

Brussels, 15 June, 2008 - PIN-SME decided to support a guideline document edited by NORMAPME that lays down the “General principles to be followed in order to make e-invoicing adapted to the reality of SMEs”. This document is to be presented at the e-Invoicing Experts Group set up by DG Enterprise at the European Commission.

eBusiness Watch Conference - Understanding the eEconomy

Brussels, 17 May, 2008 - The conference was organised by the European Commission's "Sectoral e-Business Watch" programme, which presented the results of its recent studies (2007/08) on e-business adoption in specific sectors. Invited keynote speakers from industry, government and academe offered complementary views for discussion.

PIN-SME presents its views on eSkills at eBSN

Valencia, 10 April, 2008 - The Valencia regional authority (Generalitat Valenciana), together with eBSN, the European e-Business Support Network (eBSN) for SMEs of the European Commission, organised a workshop in Valencia on the title “Competitiveness and new technologies in the age of globalization”. eBSN was created as the answer offered by the eEurope 2005 Action Plan to the needs underlined by the Industry European Council held in 2002. Already then, it stressed the need to intensify dialogue, exchange regularly experience, identify specific goals for e-business policies and to share best practices.

2nd European Expert Forum at CeBIT of Hannover

Hannover, 5 March, 2008  - The Pan European ICT & eBusiness Network for SMEs (PINSME) has organized a successful conference on the subject "ICT SMEs - better, faster, more competitive" at the Deutsche Messe AG in Hannover, Germany, on 5 March 2008 during CeBIT. Interventions were delivered by high level EU policy makers and representatives of the ICT industry including Mr Rudolf Strohmeier, Head of Cabinet EU-Commissioner Mrs Viviane Reding, Mr Andrea Benassi, Secretary General of the European Association of Craft, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (UEAPME), Mr Johann Steszgal, President of PIN-SME and Mr Andreas Naunin from SAP.

ICT small businesses are the key to fostering innovation and growth and to disseminating and promoting the use of ICT. Europe’s 23 million European SMEs need ICT to enhance their competitiveness and be more prosperous.

Half of the productivity growth of the EU comes from the ICT sector. In 2006, SMEs represented a share of more than two thirds of the workforce of the European ICT services industry. Micro-enterprises alone account for more than 94% of the total number of enterprises.

PIN-SME: the voice of ICT small and medium sized enterprises in Europe

PIN-SME is an association formed in 2007 to represent the interests of Europe’s ICT SME sector. Currently ten national and regional associations are members, representing some 50,000 ICT SME companies that account for around 200k jobs. PIN-SME aims to ensure that ICT SMEs get talked to rather than just talked about. It provides a voice for ICT SMEs in the policy and business arenas and is already represented in several EU expert groups and taskforces.
